Run school taster events and turn interest into junior registrations with the guardian sign-up QR
School tasters and the sign-up bridge
If your club delivers badminton in schools (taster days, Racket Pack blocks, festivals), the platform can turn that work into junior registrations. A QR code shown at the event takes guardians to a page listing your club, and their registration arrives in your normal applications queue tagged with the school it came from.
Prerequisites
- Your club admits juniors (Safeguarding scope is not adults-only) and junior registration is set to approve-first. See Getting set up.
- Your club's postcode is set in club settings: the sign-up page lists clubs by distance from the school, so a missing postcode means your club cannot appear.
The School taster event kind
Add an event type with the School taster kind under Admin > Settings > Event types, then schedule your school visits with it like any other event. School taster events have no member register or peg board: the attendees are pupils, not members, so there is nothing to check in.
The guardian sign-up QR
The QR poster for a school is currently produced by the platform team as part of a schools partnership (it is keyed to the school, not to your club). Guardians who scan it see the nearby clubs that are open for junior registrations, ordered by distance, and pick one.
What you see as a committee
- Registrations arrive in Admin > Applications exactly like any other guardian-led junior registration.
- An application that came through a school QR carries the school's name, so you can see which school your new juniors came from.
- The school reference is optional for the guardian and they can remove it before submitting. Treat it as helpful context, never a requirement.
Tip: The school reference is how your county and the platform measure which school programmes convert into club players, which strengthens the case for funding more school delivery. Encourage guardians to keep it, but never make it a condition.
