Responding to an Invitation

If a club has invited you to join, you'll receive an email with a personal link. This guide walks through what happens when you click it.

The email contains a Respond to invitation button. Tap or click it to open the invitation page (/invitations/[token]). The token in the URL is unique to your invitation — keep the email safe and don't forward it to anyone else.

If You Don't Have an Account Yet

If you're not signed in, the page shows a short message:

You've been invited to join [club name]
Sign up or log in to respond.

You'll see two buttons:

  • Sign up — create a new account, then come straight back to the invitation
  • Log in — sign in if you already have an account

Use the same email address the invitation was sent to. After signing up or logging in, you'll be returned to the invitation automatically.

If You're Signed In as a Different Person

If you're logged in as someone else (a different email address), the page tells you:

This invitation isn't for you.
It was sent to [the original email]. Sign in with that email to respond.

Sign out from the user menu, then sign back in with the email the invitation was sent to.

Accepting

Once you can see the invitation, click Accept. The system creates your membership at the club immediately. You'll be redirected to your new club, and the club appears in the Switch club menu and on your My Clubs page.

Declining

If you don't want to join, click Decline. The invitation status changes to "declined" and the link stops working. The club's committee will see the decline on their invitations page.

You can change your mind later by asking the club to send a fresh invitation.

Junior Invitations

If a club has invited a child, the email is addressed to you (the guardian) and the page shows the child's name and date of birth. To accept, the child must be in your family — if they aren't yet, you'll be prompted to add them. See Managing Your Family.

Expired or Revoked Invitations

Two things can happen to an invitation before you respond:

  • Expired — pending invitations expire 30 days after they're sent
  • Revoked — the club withdrew the invitation

Either way, the link stops working. If you still want to join, contact the club and ask them to send a fresh one.
