Club Announcements

The announcements page keeps you informed about important club news, updates, and events. Club administrators post announcements to communicate with all members.

Accessing Announcements

Navigate to Announcements from the sidebar menu. You will see a list of all current announcements from your club.

Note: If you see a lock icon next to Announcements in the sidebar, you need to complete your profile first.

Understanding Announcements

Announcement Cards

Each announcement is displayed as a card showing:

Title - The headline of the announcement
Content - The full message (expandable if long)
Published date - When the announcement was posted
Author - Who posted the announcement
Expiry date - When the announcement will be removed (if applicable)
Pinned badge - Important announcements are marked as pinned

Pinned Announcements

Pinned announcements appear at the top of the list and are highlighted with:

A pin icon next to the title
A Pinned badge
A subtle background colour

These are important messages that the club wants you to see first.

Expiring Announcements

Some announcements have an expiry date. You will see an Expires badge showing when the announcement will be removed. After the expiry date, the announcement will no longer appear.

Reading Announcements

Expanding Content

For longer announcements, only a preview is shown initially. Click Show more to read the full content, or Show less to collapse it again.

Content Formatting

Announcements may include:

Bold and italic text for emphasis
Bullet points and numbered lists
Links to relevant pages or external websites
Images or embedded content

Searching Announcements

Use the search box at the top of the page to find announcements by title. This is helpful when looking for a specific announcement you remember seeing.

Pagination

If there are many announcements, they are split across multiple pages. Use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom to navigate between pages.

The page shows:

How many announcements exist in total
Which page you are currently viewing
The total number of pages

Announcements on Your Dashboard

Your dashboard shows a preview of the latest announcements. This includes:

The most recent announcements
Pinned announcements at the top
A link to view all announcements

Click View All to go to the full announcements page.

Email Notifications

Depending on your notification preferences and the announcement type, you may also receive announcements by email. Committee members can choose to send announcements via email when they are posted.

To check your email notification settings, go to Profile > Notifications.

Tips for Staying Informed

Check your dashboard regularly - New announcements appear on your dashboard
Look for pinned items - These are the most important messages
Read before expiry - Some announcements are time-sensitive
Enable email notifications - Make sure you receive important announcements in your inbox

Troubleshooting

I cannot access announcements

Check your membership status. Announcements require at least a completed profile. If your status is "Pending (Incomplete)", complete your profile first.

I cannot find an old announcement

Announcements may have:

Expired and been automatically removed
Been unpublished or deleted by an administrator

If you need information from a past announcement, contact the club committee.

I am not receiving email notifications

Check your spam/junk folder
Verify your email address is correct in your profile
Check your notification preferences in Profile > Notifications
Add the club's email address to your contacts

For Lapsed Members

If your membership has lapsed, you can still view announcements but in a read-only capacity. You will see a banner encouraging you to renew your membership to regain full access.
