Managing Your Availability

Keeping your availability up to date is one of the most important things you can do as a club member. It helps captains plan team selections and ensures matches can go ahead with the right players.

Why Availability Matters

Your availability information helps:

  • Captains select players who can actually play
  • The club plan fixtures and competitions
  • Your teammates know who's available alongside them
Remember: An up-to-date availability status shows respect for your captain's time and helps the whole team.

Accessing Availability Settings

You can manage your availability from your profile page:

  1. Navigate to Profile from the sidebar
  2. Scroll to the Availability section
  3. Click Manage Availability to update your settings

Setting General Availability

Your general availability indicates your typical playing pattern:

Availability Options

| Option | When to Use |

|--------|-------------|

| Available | You're generally available for matches |

| Limited | You have some restrictions (e.g., only weekends) |

| Unavailable | You're currently not available for selection |

Adding Details

When setting limited availability, you can add notes to explain:

  • Specific days you're available
  • Time restrictions
  • Any other relevant information

Adding Unavailability Periods

For specific dates when you can't play, add unavailability periods:

How to Add an Unavailability Period

  1. Click Add Unavailability
  2. Select the start date and end date
  3. Choose the reason from the dropdown
  4. Add any additional notes (optional)
  5. Click Save

Types of Unavailability

| Type | Description |

|------|-------------|

| Holiday/Vacation | You're away on holiday |

| Injury | You're injured and cannot play |

| Work Commitment | Work obligations prevent you from playing |

| Family Commitment | Family events or obligations |

| Other | Any other reason |

Tip: Adding a reason helps captains understand your situation without needing to ask.

Managing Existing Periods

To edit or remove an unavailability period:

  1. Find the period in your availability list
  2. Click the Edit icon to modify dates or reason
  3. Click the Delete icon to remove it entirely

How Captains Use This Information

When captains are selecting teams, they can see:

  • Your general availability status
  • Any unavailability periods that overlap with match dates
  • Notes you've added to explain restrictions

Visibility

Your availability information is visible to:

  • Team captains you're assigned to
  • Vice-captains of your teams
  • Club committee members

Best Practices

Keep It Current

  • Update your availability as soon as you know of changes
  • Review your settings at least once a week
  • Remove expired unavailability periods

Be Accurate

  • Only mark yourself as available if you can genuinely play
  • Add unavailability periods as soon as you know about them
  • Be honest about your availability - it helps everyone

Communicate Exceptions

If your situation is complex:

  • Add detailed notes to your unavailability
  • Contact your captain directly for urgent changes
  • Let the committee know about long-term changes

Quick Tips

  1. Plan ahead - Add holiday dates as soon as you book them
  2. Update after injury - Mark yourself unavailable and update the end date as you recover

Troubleshooting

My availability isn't saving

  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure all required fields are filled in
  • Try refreshing the page and entering again

Captain says they can't see my availability

  • Confirm you've saved your changes
  • Check that your dates are correct
  • Ask the committee to verify your team assignment

I need to mark recurring unavailability

Currently, you'll need to add individual periods for recurring unavailability. For long-term patterns, update your general availability and add explanatory notes.
