Installing the App on iPhone

Apple only sends push notifications to installed web apps on iPhone. To receive invitations, payment reminders, cancellations, and announcements as push notifications, you need to add Badminton Clubhouse to your Home Screen first. This takes about 15 seconds and uses no extra storage beyond a bookmark.

On Android or desktop Chrome? You can skip this article and tap Install app on the banner at the top of your dashboard — your browser will install it in a single step. This page is the extra dance Apple requires on iPhone.

Steps

  1. Open Badminton Clubhouse in Safari (not Chrome — Apple restricts push to Safari-installed apps on iOS).
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with the arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add in the top-right corner to confirm.
  5. Close Safari and open the app from its new icon on your Home Screen.
  6. Go to My Profile → Notifications and tap Enable push on this device.

That's it — you'll now get notification chips on your lock screen when the club sends invitations, reminders, and announcements.

Why is this extra step needed?

Apple doesn't let regular websites in Safari send push notifications. Only web apps that users have explicitly installed get that permission, which is a privacy feature. On Android and desktop, there's no equivalent restriction — enabling notifications works straight from the browser.

iOS version requirement

Push from installed web apps needs iOS 16.4 or later. Earlier versions can install the app to the Home Screen, but push notifications won't work until the phone is updated.

Turning notifications off later

Two ways to stop receiving push:

  • On the device: Long-press the app icon → Remove App. This also clears the push subscription.
  • In the app: Go to My Profile → Notifications and either toggle individual categories off, or tap the bin icon next to this device in the Devices list.
