Entering a competition

Some competitions let you enter yourself, straight from the competition's public page, without waiting for a committee to add you. This covers singles (individual) and doubles (pair) competitions. Team competitions are still entered by your club committee.

Finding a competition to enter

Go to Find a competition to browse every public singles and doubles competition that is taking entries. You can search by name and filter by format (knockout, round robin, ladder) and discipline. Your Me > Competitions page and your club's Competitions page both link there too.

On your club's Competitions page, a singles or doubles competition in Competitions you can join opens the competition's public page, where the Enter panel lives.

Finding the Enter panel

1. Open the competition's page (from Find a competition, a link your association shared, or search).
2. If entries are open and you are signed in, an Enter this competition panel appears near the top.
3. If you are not signed in, you see Entries are open with a Sign in to enter button. Sign in and you come straight back to the competition.

The panel only shows when the competition is open for entries and inside its entry window. If you do not see it, entries may not be open yet, may have closed, or the competition may be a team competition (in which case ask your club committee to enter your team).

The panel tells you the entry fee before you enter, for example "The entry fee is £8, payable after you enter", or "There is no entry fee". For doubles, the fee is per pair and is raised once your partner accepts.

Note: If the competition is linked to your club's player registrations, the panel tells you whether you are registered with your club. You can still enter even if you are not registered, so this is just a heads-up, not a block. Your club can register you later.

Guardians: if you look after a junior, the panel offers an Entering as list so you can enter a child instead of yourself. See Managing Your Juniors for consent, fees, and how the child's entry appears afterwards.

Age and gender requirements

Some competitions have an age band (for example an under-15 event, or a veterans event) or are for men, ladies or mixed pairs only. These are checked when you enter, for you and for your partner:

• Age is worked out from the date of birth on your profile, as it will be on the day the competition starts (or on the day you enter, if the competition has no start date). If your profile has no date of birth, you can't enter an age-banded competition until you add one.
• Men's and ladies' events need every player to match; mixed doubles needs one man and one woman. If your profile doesn't record your gender, add it before entering one of these events.

If you don't meet a requirement, the panel tells you that you're not eligible. The same checks apply when a guardian enters a junior, or a committee enters a player for you.

Entering a singles competition

1. On the Enter this competition panel, click Enter this competition.
2. Your entry is created immediately and shows as Registered.
3. The panel changes to You are entered in this competition, with a line on what happens next (for example, when the draw is made or when you join the ladder).
4. If there is an entry fee, a Pay entry fee button appears right there (see below).

You can see the entry any time on your Me > Competitions page.

Entering a doubles competition with a partner

Doubles entries take two people, so you invite a partner and your entry is confirmed once they accept.

1. On the panel, search for your partner by name and select them.
2. Click Invite partner and enter.
3. Your entry shows as Waiting for partner. No fee is charged yet.
4. Your partner receives an invitation. They accept it from their notifications or their Me > Competitions page.
5. Once they accept, the entry becomes Registered. If there is an entry fee, it is raised against you (the person who set the entry up).

Tip: If your partner does not appear in the search, they may not have made their player profile public. Ask them to check their profile visibility, or enter with a different partner.

Cancelling an invitation before your partner responds

Changed your mind about a partner, or invited the wrong person? While your entry shows as Waiting for partner, you can cancel it yourself:

1. Go to the competition's page, or your Me > Competitions page.
2. Click Cancel invitation next to the waiting entry.
3. Confirm on the dialog that appears.

Your partner's invitation is cancelled immediately and they can no longer accept it. You can invite a partner again (the same one, or someone else) at any time while entries are still open.

Paying an entry fee

If the competition charges an entry fee:

1. After you enter (singles) or after your partner accepts (doubles), a payment request is raised.
2. Click Pay entry fee on the competition's page (it appears on your entry once the fee is raised), or use the payment link on your Me > Competitions page, and pay on the secure checkout page.
3. Once paid, your entry shows as paid.

Note: Your entry is created even if the payment step is not completed straight away. The organiser can see that the fee is still outstanding, so pay promptly to secure your place.

Seeing your fixtures

Once the draw, groups or ladder are set up, your Me > Competitions page shows a My fixtures list: your next fixtures across every singles and doubles competition you have entered, with the opponent, date and venue. Click a fixture to arrange it, submit the result, or verify your opponent's result.

Withdrawing your entry

You can withdraw while entries are still open.

1. Go to Me > Competitions.
2. Find the entry and click Withdraw.
3. Confirm on the dialog that appears.

If you had already paid an entry fee, a refund is started automatically. Once the entry window has closed, self-withdrawal is no longer available; contact the organiser instead.
