Switching Your Roles On and Off

One account can wear several hats on Badminton Clubhouse: you might play, look after a junior, offer services like coaching or stringing, and help run a club. Each of these is a role, and the app only shows you the sections that match the roles you have switched on.

The Your roles card at the top of Settings is where you manage them.

The four roles

Role What it unlocks
Player Games, clubs, calendar, career stats, and your player profile
Guardian Managing juniors you look after, their clubs and consents
Service provider Your services hub: coaching, stringing, and more, plus a public listing
Admin The admin dashboards for clubs, associations, or counties you help run

Switching a role on

  1. Go to Settings from the /me sidebar.
  2. On the Your roles card, switch on the role you want.
  3. You'll be taken straight to that role's setup: your player profile, adding your first junior, or claiming your services profile.

The matching sections appear in your sidebar right away, and your /me home gains a card guiding you through the rest of the setup.

Switching a role off

Switch the toggle off and the role's sections disappear from your navigation.

Nothing is deleted. Switching a role off only hides its sections. Your games history, junior details, service credentials, and everything else stay exactly as they were, and come straight back if you switch the role on again. Deleting data is a separate, deliberate flow; see Your data tools.

Locked roles

Some roles can't be switched off while a real-world fact keeps them on. The card shows a small lock and explains why:

Role Locked while... To unlock
Player You hold a club membership, a Badminton England membership, or a completed player profile Leave your clubs first
Guardian You look after at least one junior Manage this from Your juniors
Service provider You have at least one service that isn't retired Retire your services from Manage services

This protects you from accidentally hiding sections you still need, for example your clubs while you're still a member.

Admin is invitation-only

You can't switch the admin role on yourself. Admin access is granted when a club, association, or county invites you, and the card simply shows where you administer once you've accepted. See Accepting invitations.

Stepping down as an admin

You can resign your own admin access at any time. On the Admin dashboard, each organisation's card has a Step down button. Confirming removes your admin access there; your membership and player-side data are unaffected, and an admin can invite you back later.

One exception: if you're the only person at that organisation who can manage admins, you'll be asked to invite another admin with that permission first, so the organisation is never left with nobody in charge.
