Your notification inbox

Every notification Badminton Clubhouse sends you, payment requests, event invitations, application updates, junior alerts, also lands in your in-app inbox. You can find it in two places:

  1. The bell icon in the top bar. A badge shows how many unread notifications you have. Click the bell to open a tray with your most recent alerts.
  2. The full inbox page at /me/notifications.

The bell tray

Click the bell to see your most recent notifications without leaving the page you're on.

  • Unread items are highlighted with a small dot and a coloured stripe down the side.
  • Click a notification to jump to the relevant page (the event, the payment, the application). The notification is marked as read automatically.
  • "Mark all read" clears the unread badge for every notification at once.
  • "View all notifications" opens the full inbox page.

The full inbox page

Visit /me/notifications for the complete history.

The page shows every notification, newest first. Filter by category (Payments, Events, Account & lifecycle, Social, Safety) using the dropdown.

To control how each kind of notification reaches you (email, push, both, or neither), open My profile → Notifications: see Preferences below.

Categories

Notifications are grouped into five categories:

  • Account & lifecycle: applications, invitations, membership changes, account claims.
  • Payments: payment requests, reminders, receipts, cancellations.
  • Events: invitations, RSVPs, cancellations.
  • Social: leave requests, member changes, club announcements, guardian invitations.
  • Safety: safeguarding alerts that we always send to keep accounts safe. These can't be turned off.

Read state

A notification becomes "read" the moment you click it from the bell tray or the inbox page. You can also mark everything as read at once with the Mark all read button.

The bell badge counts only unread notifications. We refresh the count automatically every minute while you have the tab open.

Where each notification takes you

  • Payment notifications → your club's Finances page
  • Event notifications → the event in the Calendar
  • Application notifications → the application status (yours, or the committee review queue)
  • Invitation notifications → your Invitations page
  • Membership notifications → your Profile
  • Junior / safety notifications → your Juniors page
  • Announcement notifications → the club Announcements page

If a notification's source has been deleted, you'll be taken to the relevant landing page instead.

Preferences

Notification preferences live in your profile, open My profile → Notifications (or visit /me/profile#notifications) to choose which channels, email and/or push, to receive each kind of notification on. The bell tray and the inbox page are not channels; every notification we generate appears here regardless of your channel preferences.

The preferences panel is grouped by the role you play in the Clubhouse: As a player, As a guardian, As a coach, As a club admin, and so on. You only see toggles for the kinds you can actually receive, a player who isn't a guardian doesn't see at-18 or guardian-removal toggles, and a member who isn't on a committee doesn't see committee-only alerts. As your involvement grows (your child reaches junior age, you join a committee, you become a coach) new sections appear automatically.

Some "transactional" notifications (welfare alerts, account-claim links, payment receipts, GDPR confirmations) are always delivered on every channel, they're grouped into an Account-critical (always on) section that's locked for safety.

Troubleshooting

The bell badge doesn't update right away.

The badge polls every 60 seconds. Refresh the page if you need the freshest count immediately.

I clicked a notification but the page wasn't relevant.

The destination is determined when the notification was created. If the underlying record (event, payment, etc.) has been deleted, we land you on the relevant home page instead.

I want fewer emails.

Open My profile → Notifications and turn off the email switch for any kind. Push is on a separate switch, turning email off does not turn off push. Account-critical kinds are locked on and can't be muted.
