Club Announcements
The announcements page keeps you informed about important club news, updates, and events. It pulls together posts from clubs you belong to and clubs you follow, so you can keep up with a club's news without being a member.
Accessing Announcements
Announcements lives in the Account section of your account menu, at/me/announcements. It's a global, cross-club feed: it isn't tucked away under any single club, and you don't need to be a member of a club to see it.
- If you're a member of a club, you see every announcement that club posts.
- If you follow a club (but aren't a member), you see the announcements that club chooses to share with followers. See Finding and Joining a Club for how to follow.
Use the club filter chip in the header to narrow to a single club's feed. Click any announcement to open it in full on its detail page (/{slug}/announcements/[id]).
Following a Club to Get Its News
You don't have to join a club to hear from it. On Find a club, tap Follow on any club. From then on, the announcements that club shares with followers appear here in your Announcements feed, and you'll get them by email and in your notifications too.
- Following is free and commitment-free. Tap Following again to stop.
- Followers see the posts a club opts to share with followers, not its members-only internal notices.
- If you later become a member, you'll see all of that club's announcements as a member, and it stops showing as a separate "Following" club on My clubs.
Understanding Announcements
Announcement Cards
Each announcement is displayed as a card showing:
- Title - The headline of the announcement
- Content - The full message (expandable if long)
- Published date - When the announcement was posted
- Author - Who posted the announcement
- Expiry date - When the announcement will be removed (if applicable)
- Pinned badge - Important announcements are marked as pinned
Pinned Announcements
Pinned announcements appear at the top of the list and are highlighted with:
- A pin icon next to the title
- A Pinned badge
- A subtle background colour
These are important messages that the club wants you to see first.
Expiring Announcements
Some announcements have an expiry date. You will see an Expires badge showing when the announcement will be removed. After the expiry date, the announcement will no longer appear.
Reading Announcements
Expanding Content
For longer announcements, only a preview is shown initially. Click Show more to read the full content, or Show less to collapse it again.
Content Formatting
Announcements may include:
- Bold and italic text for emphasis
- Bullet points and numbered lists
- Links to relevant pages or external websites
- Images or embedded content
Searching Announcements
Use the search box at the top of the page to find announcements by title. This is helpful when looking for a specific announcement you remember seeing.
Pagination
If there are many announcements, they are split across multiple pages. Use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom to navigate between pages.
The page shows:
- How many announcements exist in total
- Which page you are currently viewing
- The total number of pages
Announcements on Your Dashboard
Your dashboard shows a preview of the latest announcements. This includes:
- The most recent announcements
- Pinned announcements at the top
- A link to view all announcements
Click View All to go to the full announcements page.
Email and Push Notifications
When an announcement is posted, you may also receive it by email and/or as a push notification on your devices, depending on your preferences.
- Email: sent to the address on your profile.
- Push: arrives as a chip on your lock screen / notification shade if you've enabled push on at least one device. Tap the chip to jump straight to the announcements page.
To turn either channel on or off, go to Profile → Notifications and use the Email / Push switches in the Announcements row. See Your Profile Settings.
Tips for Staying Informed
- Check your dashboard regularly - New announcements appear on your dashboard
- Look for pinned items - These are the most important messages
- Read before expiry - Some announcements are time-sensitive
- Enable push notifications - Get announcements on your lock screen the moment they're posted (see Profile → Notifications)
Troubleshooting
A club I follow has no announcements here
You'll only see a followed club's posts once it actually shares something with followers. Until the club posts follower news, there's nothing to show. Announcements a club keeps internal to its members won't appear for followers.
I cannot find an old announcement
Announcements may have:
- Expired and been automatically removed
- Been unpublished or deleted by an administrator
If you need information from a past announcement, contact the club committee.
I am not receiving email notifications
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Verify your email address is correct in your profile
- Check your notification preferences in Profile → Notifications
- Add the club's email address to your contacts
I am not receiving push notifications
- Confirm push is on for Announcements in Profile → Notifications
- Confirm at least one device is listed under Push devices on the same page
- On iPhone, push only works from the installed app, see Installing the App on iPhone
- Check that your browser isn't blocking notifications from this site (Chrome: Site settings → Notifications)
For Lapsed Members
If your membership has lapsed, you can still view announcements but in a read-only capacity. You will see a banner encouraging you to renew your membership to regain full access.
